Todd Hido (born in Kent, Ohio, 1968) is a San Francisco Bay Area-based artist. His photographs are in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as well as in many other public and private collections. He has published over a dozen books, including House Hunting (2001), Roaming (2004), and Excerpts from Silver Meadows (2013). He is an adjunct professor at California College of the Arts.

Ich habe aus der gleichen Serie auch das Buch von Larry Fink. Dieses hier finde ich besser. Das mag mehrere Gründe haben, wahrscheinlich vor allem weil die Art von Fotografie die Fink macht (die sehr vom schnellen Reagieren lebt) sehr viel schwerer zu beschreiben und vermitteln ist als die einigermaßen geplante und "langsame" von Hido. Aber Hido ist auch ein wirklich guter Didaktiker der den eigenen Zugang sehr nachvollziehbar reflektiert und vermittelt. Dabei bleibt er aber nicht bei Anekdoten aus seinem Fotografenleben stehen (einer Gefahr bei einem Buch wie diesem) sondern erklärt anhand konkreter Beispiele, Erfahrungen und Bilder allgemeine Prinzipien.Neben dem "Photographer's Playbook" eines der besten Bücher dieses Genres.
Nur zu empfehlen. Schon lange nicht mehr so begeistert von einem Buch über Photographie gewesen. Ein wirklich gutes Buch um Photograhie zu verstehen.
Super inspirierendes Buch, Lieblingsbuch! Englisch leicht verständlich, macht Lust, selbst unkonventionell zu fotografieren, die Stimmung zu erfassen und zeigt (für mich) epische Werke von Todd Hido.
Das Buch vermittelt einen guten Überblick über das Schaffen des Fotografen. Die Texte hat er selber verfasst. Diese sind in Englisch und leicht zu verstehen. Die Texte haben mir wirklich einen Kick gegeben, etwas anderes mit der Kamera auszuprobieren. Der Preis ist angemessen für die wirklich guten Bilder.
